SUPPLEMENTAL AND INTENSIVE INSTRUCTION/INTERVENTIONS

At Dunnellon Middle School, all students scoring at Level 1 or 2 on the FAST ELA PM3 assessment receive intensive instruction in Reading, as required by the State, in addition to their Language Arts class. Additionally, those students who do not have a FAST score are assessed to determine whether or not they would benefit from the Intensive Reading course. If their scores indicate a need for intervention, they will be served, as well. The Intensive Reading classes are designed to address, in a smaller group setting, the students’ individual remedial needs while their on-grade level needs are being addressed in their Language Arts class.

Students who score at Level 1 or 2 on the FAST Math PM3 assessment are served in an Intensive Math class, in addition to their regular grade level math class. This class is designed to address, in a smaller group setting, the students’ individual remedial needs, while their on-grade level needs are being addressed in their grade-level Math class.
